a post to UTP gamelan players

assalamualaikum....

rather than talking bout d 16th event of my UTP Gamelan which is at Palace of Golden Horses, yet lets move to a bigger topic that are hanging in my head for d past 3, 4 semester. Being a final year means that ur time at UTP are closed to end..and somehow, u need to ensure that the LEGACY being brought down by your seniors are being passed down to the new generation.

rather than having a small number of players, now UTP Gamelan have nearly 40 players which give us a quite headache...haha...so within this one year, I as the senior member of UTP Gamelan and the one being trusted to hold firm on this family, would like to instill these values to the other players...it is rather helpful if u read it through....

and the values are rather simple and listed below
  1. Become a part of our FAMILY, interact, smiling, usik², asking question, giving suggestion and DO enjoy while u are in the family and DO NOT stick only with your friends
  2. Play gamelan to ENJOY...enjoy the music, enjoy being with the family, enjoy the training, enjoy to perform and enjoy by committing yourself.
  3. Try to be a DEWA/DEWI by having a hunger in gamelan
  4. If you have a problem, do rise it out, do not TALK BAD bout others since we are a family.
Yeah, for d past 3, 4 years, we the senior members are expose to this so-called values and we do hope, this LEGACY can be pass down to the next generation...by playing gamelan with your closed family, it is good...refreshing...and lots of good memory will be able to be produced...lots of picture can be taken too...haha....

play it right, enjoy it right and you are in the right track...
insyaAllah

Kalau kalian hanya bermain gamalen saat kuliah saja, bagaimana gamelan itu bisa lestari nantinya? (Diseluruh tanah Melayu)

  2. kuro:-

well..diluar pon ada group gamelan juga...only for a few states in malaysia..and ada gak pusat2 seni yg mana kitaorg bole join after finished up our study as example at utp...

indeed, there might be a problem but as long as there are young people learning gamelan, and trying to preserve it, it would last long...

company like petronas also doing the art class for their staff..maybe upon graduating and working with pet, i might involve with dat class...lots of my snrs are in the group...

thx kuro for asking...my colleague went to UGM and uni. atmajaya last week for this gamelan trip...and from wat i heard, they did quite well...if u were part of the indonesian who greet them, time kasih byk2..and maaf kerana tidak berada bersama2 kerana ada hal penting di utp...

do keep in touch with us...

    first, thx for d visit...
erm, aku dh grad...haha..about 2 months camtu...
well, basically, im thinking to go back to utp...when the jnrs hv a performance, so we might be able to have our time to play after the event....or we can have all of us, coming to utp, to play gamelan for one full day with the jnrs giving a helping hand, no need papers, just a call might help kot...

maybe, u can go to fs, and try to search for gamelan group...ill try to update there...

once played, mana leh tinggal...tak gitu?

p/s: first team utp --> ni geng2 kak juhaida ke?
